Artist Statement

My chief aim is to produce work which is aesthetically pleasing and challenges the mind. The natural environment is my major source of inspiration; I am fascinated by both its strength and fragility and want to capture this within my work.

My decision making process is largely intuitive and sometimes spontaneous when I see something that excites me. Graphite or ink drawings form the basis of my work. The versatility of acrylic as a medium appeals to me as I want to incorporate materials, which either have personal meaning or are representative of my subject area.

Currently I am exploring  how I can use naturally occurring  shapes and patterns to show strength and fragility and create visually interesting abstract work which still retains the essence of its origin.
